Portal 2 The Unauthorized Musical Indiegogo Campaign!

Portal 2: The (Unauthorized) Musical (version 2.0!) will run January 27, 28, 29 (2pm and 8pm) 2017 at Vancouver's Rio Theatre.

Portal 2: The (Unauthorized) Musical is a Broadway-inspired pantomime informed by the foundations of traditional musical theatre and video game culture. Portal 2: The (Unauthorized) Musical is produced by Geekenders Theatricals, an incorporated theatre and event company in Vancouver, Canada.

With a book written by Fairlith Harvey based on the dialogue in Portal 2, and clever lyrics written by James Dunlop, Geekenders Theatricals' Portal 2: The (Unauthorized) Musical is an electrifying stage adaptation of cult hit video game Portal 2. Combining high-octane choreography by established dancer/choreographer Patrice Bowler and stunning direction by Fairlith Harvey and Andrew Lynch, Portal 2: The (Unauthorized) Musical presents a first-rate adaptation of a beloved video game in an effort to discuss topics of feminism, abusive relationships, PTSD, and body positivity.

What We Need & What You Get

$17 000 pays for the production of the show at its barest minimum. It includes paying a stage manager and lighting designer and operator, and the cast, crew, and larger band with honourariums. It includes a budget for all-new costumes, as the ones from the original show have scattered to the winds and we wish to design something a little more magical. It includes a budget for publicity and a new, more immersive set. Additionally, it will cover new props; we didn't plan to do the show again, and the original Portal guns were signed and presented to children who attended our original show. It also covers our rehearsal space and microphone rental, as well as paying a tech person for running those mics.

About Us

Geekenders runs events by geeks, for geeks. Our main event is a monthly variety show and dance which features a burlesque and variety show, costume and trivia contests, and geeky dancing. Costumes are strongly encouraged at every Geekenders event, and each show has a costume theme with off-theme costumes always welcome.
